Weekend Update

Sorry for the light posting, but it's been a somewhat rough week.

After our pediatrician's visit on Monday, Sloane's various symptoms have gotten worse. She's had mild diarrhea since about Wednesday, coupled with her first case of horrible diaper rash. Her cold is not getting worse, but it's been lingering without getting much better all week. On top of that, she hasn't been sleeping well or napping well and has been cranky and fussy for the last two days. Then, today, she's basically refused the bottle. Out of what is normally three feedings of 8 to 9 ounces today, she's had a total of ten ounces. She has had an ounce and a half of carrots and two ounces of pears, so she is eating. And, yes, we do have a call in to the pediatrician and are waiting for a call back.

She's been crying a lot, which is completely not like her. We're hoping it's just the teething or her body adjusting to solids that is causing these symptoms, but we are somewhat worried. Luckily, she has not had a fever at all this week.

Still, we had a nice weekend - playing a lot yesterday (it was rainy) and going out with our friends Evan and Nichole and their two beautiful boys, ages three years and three months to wander around Maplewood's charming downtown. We had brunch at the Maple Leaf Diner where we had a Triple Poopie Disaster -- all three kids had poopies at the same time and there was no changing table at the restaurant and it was too cold outside to just change them in the park on a bench. Plus Evan and Nichole's stroller got a flat tire. So, the lovely afternoon had to be cut short. Ah, the joys of kids!

Last night, John and I had our first night out with a babysitter watching Sloane. The babysitter came very highly recommended by a mom friend of mine and she was terrific. She's a little older than I and teaches autistic children at Montclair State. We were very nervous to leave Sloane with a stranger, even one so highly recommended, but for our sanity, we need to have a little adult time. We've agreed that she will sit for us one Saturday a month going forward.
