Sweeping Sloane and the Adventure of the Many Molars

We had an eight-hour power failure last night for no good reason... there was about 15 minutes of ominous rain and thunder and then it passed and voila... we were without power until 3 am. It makes us nervous for our future relationship with Georgia Power. Are we going to be without power for hours at a time every time the earth sneezes a bit?

Anyway, while trying to get a fussy and hot toddler off to bed (no air conditioning without electricity, remember?), I actually got a few fingers in the mouth. The little Munchkin hasn't allowed anyone to violate the sanctity of those gums in about a month. I was shocked to feel not one, not two, not three, but four new teeth. All molars and all only barely through. Which, of course, means we have a lot more painful teething ahead of us. Poor munchkin!

Here's a video of Sloane "helping" us sweep this morning after breakfast.

  • Unfortunately I don't have good news on the power front. The good of our city: we have lots of pretty trees. The bad: every time precipitation comes forth from the sky in anything greater than an itty, bitty drizzle, trees fall and power lines go down. After watching Georgia Power repair some massive downed lines 3 houses away from us about a month ago (a tree took out the pole, transformer and the lines) I now know they try to do their best but sometimes it's a big job and they often have many of those big jobs each time a storm comes through... I'm not defending them (because, trust me, I've seen other instances when a tiny line has been down and it's taken 24 hours to get it up) just warning you.
