Sturm und Drang: 17 Months

Dear Lolli -

Posting has been non-existent as mommy has been embroiled in market crisis hell and working almost around the clock the last ten days or so. It's been a roller coaster ride of a few weeks - we got two offers on the house, I had a complete meltdown about how much money we're losing on the house regardless of which of the two offers we accept, Daddy's car got broken into and stuff stolen out of it, and other emotional and financial disasters, both small and large.

But you know what they say about roller coasters? They only end badly if you get off in the middle.

Things are looking up in their own weird way and throughout these difficult times, you have been like a beacon of wonderfulness. Our joy and our rock. Our reminder of why we get up every morning and put one foot in front of the other. You are our entire life, my little darling.

This month has seen a vocabulary and skill explosion. You are bossy and stubborn and delightful. You tell the cats what to do and give mommy kisses while demanding a "nana" (banana). You can slap your little tushie and laugh. You break free from our grip, exerting your frightening independence and run away giggling. You can put on your own shoes ("shooss") and dance and wiggle. You love watching the "dawks" (dogs) on Animal Planet and eating "chiss" (cheese). You like to sit on the potty, but you still aren't completely sure what it's for. You can brush your own hair and demand that mommy give you "lipstick" (chapstick) and let you smell her perfume.

You are an amazing, beautiful, charming, smart little person and whenever mommy and daddy have dark days and question the decisions that we have made, we think of you and feel that much better and that much stronger and the world is that much brighter for us. The world is a better place because you're in it, Sloane. Don't you ever forget that!

love,
your mommy

Ugh, I can't believe Reggie Bush just fumbled!

Probably the only toddler in the history of the world to like HOT salsa

Could watermelon be the new "nana" (banana)?

Alas, no... back to chicken
