A Momentous Weekend

We bought and wore big girl panties for a few hours! Sloane was very proud and kept telling herself "big girl, good girl." Of course, we also had to wear our tiara....

For Grandpa Boris (aka "Popeye")

Wait for the end for the big payoff.

(it's amazing how much clearer her speech has become in the last couple of weeks)

Diva-in-Training

We went to Target (Tar-jay) to get some staples for the house and they just happened to have dress up shoes and tiaras on clearance for a dollar and a certain someone had to have them...

Serving Breakfast to 'Melmo' and 'Baybiss'

Sloane took a moment out of Family Dance Party (our Sunday morning ritual) to feed her babies, Melmo and Baybiss, their breakfast which she slaved over in her play kitchen. Silly Baybiss would not sit up properly.

Peaches and Cream

Look, I know that every mother thinks that her kid is the most gorgeous... but really, she just IS:

Hip Hop Moves

Well, we're in the house.

It was a comedy of errors that, had it not been happening to us, would have made for a very funny slapstick movie. Suffice it to say, I am never moving again and certainly never during the holidays. I am sick, Sloane was sick, my boss probably thinks I am playing hooky from work (I swear I really was sick as a dog -- 103 fever on New Year's Eve!), John hasn't really had a chance to sleep in at least a week (he looks like a zombie). The house is still in disarray and there's still so much to unpack and set up and organize that my brain stem starts to throb when I think about it -- BUT we're in, Sloane's room and the playroom are completely set up and organized and it's great. I see many happy years here.

Our neighbors are wonderful - the couple next door brought over a nice bottle of wine, invited us to their NYE party, then to dinner AND brought over a laminated listing of all the important numbers, the places that deliver food here and all the child-friendly stuff within walking distance. I think I may be a little bit in love with them. The neighbors on the other side are also super friendly and both sets of neighbors have big, friendly dogs that Sloane is positively thrilled about! Across the street is an elderly couple who are home during the day and like to "keep an eye on things" and a few doors down is a family with two boys, one only a few months older than Sloane.

Posting will invariably be very skimpy over the next two weeks or so as we get this house in order, but I bring you a few things for your viewing pleasure... first some photos of Sloane's new playroom (including the various tortures to which she subjects a willing Frank and Cali) and finally, a video of her practicing her hip-hop dance moves.

(this was still at the apartment but was too funny not to slip in)
